This itinerary combines the rich Mediterranean scrub lands in Garraf Natural Park with the surprisingly sheer variety of birds to be found in Llobregat Delta marshes.

Llobregat Delta hosts incredible specialities such as Purple Swamphen (Porpyrhio porphyrio), Moustached Warbler (Acrocephalus melanopogon), Great Spotted Cuckoo (Clamator glandarius), Audouin’s Gull (Larus audouinii), Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea), Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Red-crested Pochard (Netta rufina), Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides) and Little Bittern (Ixobrychus minimus). The variety of birds include riberine birds such as Iberian Green Woopecker (Picus sharpei), Common Waxbill (Estrilda astrild) and Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus). Garraf Natural Park is a hilly, dry massif 20 kilometres South of Barcelona. The steep slopes in Pyrenees provide a wide range of high mountain birds, all of them available by a 70 minutes car transfer from Barcelona city centre. Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park is an excellent setting to look for Lammergeier (Gypaetos barbatus), Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus), Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Citril Finch (Carduelis citrinella), Ring Ouzel (Turdus torquatus), Black Woodpecker (Dryocopus martius), Common Rock Thrush (Monticola saxatilis), Alpine Chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax), Red-billed Chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax), Alpine Accentor (Prunella collaris), Rock Bunting (Emberiza cia) among many other birds living in high mountains.
